Proposed changes to Chamber sign usage:
- Non-profit Chamber members may continue to use the sign as they have in the past.
- For-profit Chamber members may put announcements on the sign up to four times per calendar year for a week at a time at a cost of $25.00 per week.
- Non-profit non-Chamber members will be subject to a charge of $25.00 for each individual announcement said non-profit wants to put on the sign. Each individual announcement will run for one week. Non-profits may join the Chamber for a yearly membership fee of $35.00 and put announcements on the sign for no charge.
- For-profit non-Chamber members will be charged $100.00 for each individual a nnouncement said business wants to put on the sign. Each individual announcement will run for one week. Businesses may join the Chamber for a yearly fee ranging from $35.00 to $125.00, depending on the number of employees, and then be able to place announcements on the sign as in Number 2 above.
- Announcements are restricted to: name of business or non-profit, name of event, date(s), contact phone number(s) or address(es). Announcements will be restricted to twenty-five (25) words or less.
- All requests to place announcements on the sign will be made at the Village of St. Charles office and all payments will be made at the time of the request.
This proposed change in policy is necessitated by the following:
- The telephone line used to connect the sign to the Village Office incurs a monthly cost of $36.75. Total for a year - $441.00.
- Normal upkeep expenses need to be planned for.
- The control unit for the sign costs approximately $700.00. We have already had one incident in which a power outage damaged the control unit. Fortunately, the unit was still under warranty so we only had to pay for it to be installed. In the event that this unit is damaged again, it is no longer under warranty and the Chamber would have to spend the $700.00 plus installation charges in order to make the sign operational again.
